The Origin
“My husband, Dimitri was an Olympic silver medalist from Bulgaria in the Pentathlon event (1960s). I was also an athlete from Cuba when we met. After moving to America, my husband was involved in training athletes of the US Olympic team. Because many Olympic athletes like to train at high altitudes, Big Bear was an ideal place to build a house, tucked in the San Bernardino mountains of Southern California.
“Dimitri wanted to build a unique home for us, and after careful research, the numerous benefits of a dome-shaped home was our unquestionable choice. This was to be our dream home. We were up here almost every weekend, going over the construction details with the contractor.
The construction was completed in 1987. We enjoyed the house together for many years and entertained friends and family frequently. It was the favorite gathering place for all of our friends. After my husband passed away, staying in this big house with the old happy memories was too much to bear. I decided to sell and move closer to my family and friends in Los Angeles.”
